An easy autumn dessert that we love to indulge after a busy day . Baked apples make comforting & satisfying dessert especially served with ice-cream . For this recipe I’ve used Granny Smith apples & some leftover dried fruits from my pantry . The tartness of the apples blended perfectly with the delicious syrupy filling …. YUM

Baked Apple With Dried Fruit
Recipe adapted from Canadian Living
Ingredients for 4:
1 cup of apple cider
¼ cup brown sugar (I’ve used light brown sugar)
¼ Tsp ground cinnamon
¼ Tsp ground nutmeg
1 Tbsp butter
4 apples (Golden , Gala or Granny Smith )
½ cup mixed chopped dried fruits ( I’ve used raisins, apricots , figs & cranberries)
1) Preheat oven to
. In a small saucepan , combine cider,
cinnamon, nutmeg & sugar . Bring to a boil & stir in butter . Remove
from heat & set aside .
2) Core apples almost to the bottom , leaving base intact . Pare off
2 cm wide strip around core at
the top ; trim base to level if necessary .
3) Stuff mixed dried fruit into each apple . Place in a square baking dish & pour cider mixture over the top . Bake for about 35 – 40 mins . Bake till apples are tender & the sauce is syrupy.
